Roofing Contractors

Posted in: Business |

The process of choosing a roofing contractor can be difficult. There are so many roofing companies in the Atlanta metro area which complicates the process as well. The competition between the companies has risen and they have become more savvy in their conversion efforts. They promise the world to shine above the other contractors. The proposal or the price of the estimate may seem to good to be true. Most often the latter is true for people are not able to stay in business and loose money. If we look to the BBB, it helps to clarify which contractors we should consider. There are other factors that can aid in the selection process as well. Ask your potential contractor for a list of references from the last 6 months. Call these customers and get their opinion of how the roof installation process was completed. Did the roofing contractor stay within budget and did he or she do what was written in the proposal. Was the the clean up of the job site satisfactory? These few questions can literally save you thousands of dollars.

The once you have selected a roofing contractor there are a few things you should agree on prior to the signing of the contract. A receipt for the cost of materials showing the bill paid in full from the shingle supply warehouse should be provided to you prior to payment. A mechanical lien waiver for services provided should be signed and notarized by the roofing company. You should request a material lien waiver form from the supply warehouse as well. The permits from the city or county that you reside in should be on hand. Have a code enforcement officer to approve the work prior to payment. Your roofing contractor should provide proof of General Liability and a valid Workers Compensation Certificate. Be sure to contact the insurance company for a valid certificate. The roofing company should be willing to adhere to your request, if not then you should move on to the next contractor.
